Loob_Sealants

Rhino offer two Sealant type options which include:

  • Supply and apply of traditional hot applied grit filled overbanding
  • A pre-formed overseal banding tape on a roll for self application

Skid Resistant Overband Sealing

We supply and apply hot overbanding sealant with added grit for an anti-skid finish.

It is an extremely economical method of sealing cracks in asphalt and concrete surfaces where protection of the arrises is required.

The benefit over and above traditional overband sealing is the addition of grit into the sealant. This fine grit is incorporated in the molten sealant so instead of a simple band of neat binder, the system has a textured finish which gives improved skid resistance to a SRV value of 55.

Specification: Normal width 40mm, nominal thickness 2.5mm

  Loob_Overbanding_Tape

A pre-formed, self adhesive overseal banding tape with skid resistant finish which is cold applied directly onto asphalt

Nobody can doubt the need to seal cracks in the road to prevent water ingress as freeze-thaw cycles coupled with trapped water are a guaranteed way to generate pot holes and expensive maintenance bills.

Commissioning specialist crack repair subcontractors is not always the most cost effective solution, especially for small quantities. In these instances, Rhino overseal banding tape can be purchased and installed by your own workforce.

  • Seals cracks and joints to prevent water ingress
  • Slows further deterioration by 25% by sealing arrises
  • Self adhesive material bonds to the surface
  • Traffic action presses tape firmly into place
  • Seals edges of repairs and utility openings
  • Skid resistant finish
  • Polymerised bitumen for optimum performance

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure surface is clean and dry (>15°c). If not, use a brush, hot gas torch, lance or flared end.
  2. Load tape onto applicator trolley
  3. At walking pace, push the trolley ensuring the tape spans the crack
  4. When each roll is finished, load the next one and butt up to where the last one finished.
  5. If the temperature is below 15°c, heat the crack prior to application of the tape and then run the wheel of a vehicle over the tape to assist with initial adhesion.
